Evangelion Mark.06 (エヴァンゲリオン Mark.06(マック シックス), Evangelion Māku Shikkusu?) is one of the Evangelion appearing in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. It first appears at the end of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone while still under construction at the Tabgha Moon Base, its first actual sortie takes place during the climax of Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, piloted by Kaworu Nagisa. It reappears in Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo as an autonomous unit.

Profile[]

Mark.06 with Halo (Rebuild 2

Evangelion Mark.06

Mark 06 is the first Mark Series unit introduced to the Rebuild tetralogy. The final armored Mark.06 is a deep blue with yellow trim. The shoulder pylons are uniquely curved and the units torso is elongated featuring an extra set of chest plate compared to other production model. The horned helmet, which bears a strong resemblance to Armaros's, has a red visor covering the eye holes. The entry plug appears to be designed to provide a noticeably higher field-of-vision for the pilot. The Evangelion has shown to be capable of levitation while bearing an Angelic halo, which—in addition to the dialogue between SEELE, Gendo, and Fuyutsuki—hints at extremely potent capabilities.

Evangelion Mark.06 was constructed at NERV (Rebuild)'s lunar 7th Branch, Tabgha Base. It initially appears unfinished, with its body covered in a rubbery white material,[1] and a purple mask covering its face, bearing the logo of SEELE (Rebuild) with two dark holes at the top which marks under them that make it seem as if they were crying. The morphology of the head and neck is very similar to Second Angel Lilith, although the more defined body, along with what appears to be a core visible beneath the fabric, is closer to a normal Evangelion. An IV-like device labeled BTB is connected to the Evangelion's left arm.

Later, the white cover is removed and the Evangelion undergoes the process of outfitting. The exposed skin on the head is dark gray while the body is tightly covered on a darker fiber that resembles muscle tissue. The mask remains affixed to the face, although it appears slightly modified, with the SEELE logo taking more space than before and the crying marks under the holes at the top removed. The middle part of the mask, approximately where the eyes would be, is hidden by a provisional covering held tightly by external wires as the helmet is readied for application.

Features[]

Likely due to it's unique creation process, Evangelion Mark.06 possesses many rare or unique features. As seen at the end of Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, the unit possesses some degree of powered flight with orbital re-entry capabilities. While the specific details are unknown and it's possible the unit only has the ability to levitate, the units sudden appearance descending from the sky implies it had been dispatched on the moon after it's completion and returned to Earth unaided by any carriers or transporters.

In addition to flight, the Mark.06 also apparently has no need for external power as it has no visible port for an umbilical cable and no clear external batteries, a point which is further reinforced by [2] While never confirmed, given the circumstances of its creation it's reasonable to assume the Mark.06 is powered via an S2 engine.

Mark.06 is given a Spear of Cassius as its melee weapon. The spear is first seen wrapped in fabric while the unit is on construction. The Spear is later on used against the Awakened Unit-01 in order to stop Near Third Impact. In the preview for 3.0, an autonomous Mark.06, wielding the Spear of Cassius, descends into Central Dogma in search for Lilith.

Besides the Spear of Cassius, Mark.06 is never seen using any other weaponry and does not appear to have any onboard weaponry either.

History[]

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone[]

After the demise of the Sixth Angel, Mark.06 is shown lacking its armor and restraints, still under construction in the Tabgha Moon Base, in front of a series of coffins from one of which raises its designated pilot, Kaworu Nagisa.

Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance[]

During their reconnaissance to Tabgha Base, Gendo Ikari and Kōzō Fuyutsuki observe that the construction process of the Evangelion Mark.06 is unusual, although it isn't specified how, and that SEELE have constructed it in secret to advance their own hidden agenda according to Dead Sea Scrolls Apocrypha. Keel Lorenz refers to the Mark.06 as the true Evangelion, to play a role in fulfilling the covenant with Second Angel Lilith. Fuyutsuki takes this to mean that SEELE wants to create a real "god", not just false ones.

Evangelion Mark.06 is first sortied in secret from the Moon base right before the Tenth Angel attacks Tokyo-3. Arriving as Third Impact begins, Mark.06 throws the Spear of Cassius towards Evangelion Unit-01, impaling its core and disabling it, halting Third Impact and somewhat lessening its effects.

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo[]

Mark.06 in Central Dogma.

At some point during the 14 years that transpired between Evangelion: 2.0 and Evangelion: 3.0, Mark.06 was apparently modified into an Independent Type Unit, after which, constant abuse of the unit brought it to a state of ruin.

In Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, Mark.06 is fused to Second Angel Lilith's neck, replacing its original head that now resides in a room in the upper levels of the ruined NERV HQ. Mark.06 and Lilith appear much larger in size, and covered in a white substance while being in suspended animation (being absorbed by Lilith to replace her head), impaled by two Spears of Longinus as opposed to one of the spears being a Spear of Cassius like Kaworu believed.

After Evangelion 13 removes the spears, Evangelion Mark.06 is freed and shrinks down to its normal size as Lilith's body erupts into blood, dying in the process. Evangelion Mark.09 is then ordered to behead Mark.06, which releases the Twelfth Angel from its body. The Evangelion Mark.06 is not seen again for the remainder of the movie. The scene in Evangelion 2.0 where Ryoji Kaji told to Shinji Ikari about the second impact, there are four surviving Adams. Evangelion Mark.06 is one of them refitted as seen in the Moon. It landed on Moon, other Adam is used as Evangelion 13 and the rest of the Adams are used as the Opfer-type EVAs, (Evangelion Mark.09 (later rebuilt as Evangelion Mark.09-A), Evangelion Mark.10, Evangelion Mark.11 and Evangelion Mark.12).

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time[]

The arm of Mark.06 is seen during the flashback of the Third Impact, holding the head of Second Angel Lilith after it was beheaded.

Mark.06 makes its last onscreen appearance when Gendo destroys all of the Evangelion Units with the Spear of Gaius piercing Unit-01 and Evangelion 13 to remove everything related to Evangelion.

Trivia[]

  • While the Evangelion is consistently referred to as Mark.06 within the films themselves, during the previews at the end of the first two films it is referred to by the Japanese designation "Eva Rokugouki".
  • The effort to keep Mark.06's face covered at all times may be an allusion to the Biblical God. According to Exodus 33:20, "You cannot see my [God's] face, for no one may see me and live". This would continue the theme started with Lilith in the original series, which the mask that Mark.06 possesses during construction bears a striking similarity to.
  • The Entry Plug sound effect of both Evangelion 13 and Mark.06 is different from all other Evangelions with Mark.06's Entry Plug emitting the same standard hum but noticeably lighter and more rhythmic.
  • The reason why Mark.06 is much larger in size when it is fused with Lilith could be explained by the fact that Mark.06 had become a part of Lilith, thus it grows and shrinks according to Lilith's will.
  • In the end preview of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, multiple green colored 3D CGI versions are seen fighting with Evangelion Unit 8+2. These designs and scenes would later be omitted with the release of 3.333 with a content more appropriate to the actual film.
  • In the third film, Mark.06's appearance is much likely the same in the second film but sports a lighter colour scheme. This could be due to unusual lighting or because of a minor design revision between films.
